TUTAG lends support to Bolga TUTAG and Administrators' strike action.

The Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) Chapter's strike action has gained support from the Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG).

On August 25, 23, the Bolga TUTAG and the Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) jointly announced a strike action aimed at securing improved working conditions.

In a united press statement signed by leaders of TUTAG and TUSAAG, the staff accused the Vice Chancellor of exploiting supposed ambiguities in the "Technical Universities Act (2016) Act 922 as Amended" to unfairly treat them.

The group stressed that according to the Act, any member of TUTAG or TUSAAG who served continuously for 10 years under the former polytechnic system is automatically entitled to the same retirement benefits as their counterparts in other technical universities.

TUTAG, in a statement signed and released by its General Secretary, Dr Abubakari Zakari, highlighted the Act's establishment of Technical Universities in Ghana and its acknowledgment of the continuous service of former polytechnic staff. These staff smoothly transitioned in compliance with the law to become employees of the newly established Technical Universities.

The statement expressed incredulity and dissatisfaction with any attempt by certain individuals or groups in authoritative positions within the Technical Universities to alter the employment conditions of university staff who have accrued rights.

TUTAG cautioned that any endeavors to victimize members of the BTU Chapter, particularly its leadership, would face strong opposition from the entire union membership across the country.
